Community knitting..

During a trip to the pitti yarn fair in Florence me and a friend participated in a community knit in witch you carry on knitting onto a piece once someone else has participated you can add as many or as little stitches as you wish and use different techniques as well as changing yarn. This really interested my and inspired me to research into different types of knitting such as yarn bombing and artists that use things like this in there work things such as live knitting. This really interested me and I found out a lot about communities and how knitting can bring people together.

Photo Insperation Reseach..

 I am very pleased with the photos I have taken as part of my research I took them at Camden lock in London the setting was perfect a bright neon shop I just held the shutter on my camera down and moved it in different directs before releasing and having the final image. I did this process many times and so I have a lot to work from and to help my secure a colour pallet for my samples.

Sampeling..

Although I am yet to source my own imagery yet from the research i have so far i have created these first knit samples..

I do like these samples but am more looking forward to see how they can be developed further through out my project i have used punch cards and e-wrapping to create colour blocks against the harsh black background.

starting point..

My first thought for this project as i had choosen to do the urban outfitters brief was that i wanted to be inspired by something current like a trend and when researching i found that alot of this seasons catwalk and fashion trends were bright bold neon colours and so i thought that it would link in perfectly with urban outfiters with is a major high street fashion retailer.
